Couple Inspired to Amplify Legacy of the CSO and Pops, Thanks to Its Commitment to Accessibility and Inclusion

Charla and Scott Weiss

Dr. Charla Weiss and her husband Scott made the generous and impactful decision to include the CSO and Pops in their estate plan, which will benefit so many.

As champions of nurturing the concept that music is for everyone, Dr. Charla Weiss and her husband, Scott, believe there is a future for everyone at the CSO and Pops—on stage, in the audience and within the staff and Board.

At the center of their contributions of time and treasure, Charla and Scott chose to become more involved because of their belief that the CSO and Pops has the potential to be the most relevant orchestra in America and is actively moving toward this. This goal is actualizing by groundbreaking initiatives like hiring the orchestral industry’s first senior-level Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, offering free concerts across Cincinnati and producing educational events, concerts and workshops for students.

As members of the Thomas Schippers Legacy Society, the Weisses want to leave a legacy of equitable access to the arts and for everyone to see and hear themselves through all aspects of the CSO and Pops. The opportunity to help fund many programs that break down barriers to the arts is something that motivated them to make their most recent commitment. These programs include the Diversity Fellowship Program, A.J. Brady neighborhood concerts, paid internships and the constantly evolving CSO Proof series. The Weisses shared, “We give to organizations that are fiscally sound and those which have shown sustainable, future-focused initiatives and know the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion. The CSO meets these objectives.”
